Single Sign-On (SSO)
Single Sign-On lets your team sign in to Rune using your company’s identity system. Users authenticate through your identity provider, and Rune trusts that authentication.
Why Use SSO?
| Benefit | What It Means |
|---|---|
| One login for everything | Users sign in with their company credentials |
| Better security | Your identity provider enforces your security policies |
| Automatic access | New employees get access when added to your identity system |
| Compliance | Meet enterprise security requirements |
How It Works
When a user signs in via SSO:
- User clicks Sign in with SSO on Rune
- Rune redirects to your company’s login page
- User signs in with company credentials
- Identity provider confirms the user is valid
- Rune creates or updates the user account automatically
- User gains access to Rune
Setup Process
Setting up SSO involves these steps:
- Get information from Rune - The Service Provider tab shows you what to give your identity provider
- Configure your identity provider - Create a SAML application in your company’s system
- Enter information in Rune - The Identity Provider tab is where you enter your identity provider’s details
- Test - Verify SSO works before going live
What You Need
To set up SSO:
- Admin access to Rune
- Admin access to your company’s identity provider
- At least one password-based admin account (as backup)
SAML 2.0
Rune uses SAML 2.0, the industry standard for enterprise SSO. This works with most enterprise identity providers.
